“180 Qualified PNP Applicants Takes Oath in PRO 12”

Police Regional Office 12- Police Regional Office 12 (PRO12) Police force supplemented with 180 strong Patrolman/Patrolwoman Recruits who just took their Oath of Office this morning at PRO 12 Headquarters, Tambler, General Santos City administered by PRO 12 Regional Director, PBGEN ALFRED S CORPUS.

Prior to the Oath Taking Ceremony, the new batch of Police trainees under the 2nd cycle of the CY 2019 Pat Attrition Recruitment Program (Attrition Quota) underwent sequential stages of a transparent and fair vetting process.

The series of the selection process was done through an online recruitment application system (PNP ORAS)-as initial stage, followed by initial screening of 966 applicants comprising the face to face interview and inspection of tattoo held in the period of October to November 2019. Out of the 966online applicants of this PRO, only 734 applicants comprising of 246 females and 488 males submitted their application folders and appeared during the initial screening.

In the next phase of the selection process, only 721 appeared and have undergone measurement of height, weight, and body mass index under the hands of PNP Regional Health Service 12. The applicants then proceeded to undergo physical agility test in groups on separate occasions. The tests were conducted at PRO 12 Covered Court, Tambler, General Santos City and Calumpang Sports Complex. Among the PNP hopefuls, only 501 applicants composed of 142 females and 359 males were recommended to take the Written Competitive Examination (WCE).

The WCE took the largest bite on the number of applicants. There were only 287 who were qualified to move on to the next phase which is the Psychological/Psychiatric Examination and Personal Evaluation and Interview.

Series of different examinations and requisite activities such as surprised drug test, Physical, Medical, and Dental Examination and Fingerprint and Handwriting Specimen, and final evaluation and deliberation were conducted which quoted the finalist list of 180 qualified PNP applicants to take the oath.

Qualified candidates for an appointment took their Oath of Office at PRO 12 Headquarters, Tambler, General Santos City at 9:00 AM on January 30, 2020.

Family members, other relatives, loved ones and friends of the candidates were at the venue to witness the life-changing event for the Patrolman/Patrolwoman Recruits. Present also during the activity were officials from NAPOLCOM 12, Landbank Members of the press, and other stakeholders.

After the oath-taking, the newly appointed Patrolmen and Patrolwomen were turned over to RTC 12 and were duly received by PLTCOL GREG A SOLIBA, Training Director.

After the acceptance of the PNP recruits, they were then made to undergo the Reception Rites facilitated by RTC 12 Training Staff. The Reception Rites is part of the PNP Customs and Traditions wherein Police Trainees were made to perform exercises to measure their physical strength and their determination to embrace the life of being a new member of the PNP.

After the Reception Proper, the 180 strong PNP recruits boarded the dispatch vehicle bound to RTC 12, Camp Gregorio G. Daproza, Lanton, Apopong, General Santos City on the same day for the start of the six-month Public Safety Basic Recruit Course (PSBRC).

The concept of training that the PNP recruits will undergo is anchored in the internal cleansing campaign of the new Chief, PNP, PLTGEN ARCHIE FRANCISCO F GAMBOA which is focused on providing new breed of policemen who religiously adheres to the PNP policies and procedures provided for under the PNP Operations Manual and other existing PNP disciplinary policies.

PBGEN CORPUS in his message appreciated the PNP recruits for heeding the call to serve and protect the country and the Philippine Constitution. As the former director of the PNP Training Service, he encouraged them to wholeheartedly submit to the training process for it will make them a genuine police officer who lives by the Dogmas of the PNP.

“As soon-to-be full-pledged members of the PNP, work hard to make a name that will make not just your family proud but also the PNP as well. In fact, give it more than everything you got. Adopt the PRO 12 mentality which is to always go beyond what is expected. I will not demand to hear your answer right now but rather, I want to see it.
