Police Regional Office 12 – Forty-four (44) members of Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs) were presented to Municipal Mayors of Maasim, Kiamba, and Maitum and to the newly appointed Regional Director of Police Regional Office 12, PBGEN MICHAEL JOHN F DUBRIA at Kiamba Municipal Hall, Kiamba, Sarangani Province, 9AM of May 28, 2020.
Today, forty-four (44) CTG members operating at different parts of Sarangani Province particularly Maasim, Kiamba and Maitum voluntarily submit themselves to the authority along with their firearms, ammunition, and explosive which were presented in the Press Conference of PTF-MTF ELCAC (Joint Provincial and Municipal Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict) spearheaded by Sarangani Governor STEVE CHIONGBAN SOLON, Maitum Mayor ALEXANDER BRYAN REGANIT, Kiamba Mayor DANNY MARTINEZ, Maasim Mayor ZYREX D PACQUIAO, PRO 12 Regional Director PBGEN MICHAEL JOHN F DUBRIA, SCPPO OIC Provincial Director PLTCOL RODOLFO INOY, RMFB 12 Battalion Commander PLTCOL BARNEY P CONDES, and DILG Provincial Director ENGR. SAMUEL A CAMAGANACAN.
After the presentation of the said surrenderers, a ceremonial burning of the Communist Flag and their doctrinal documents were burned to ashes held in front of Kiamba, Municipal Hall.
Alias “Tiger”, one of the CTG leaders said that he didn’t desire to become an NPA and realized the senselessness of their armed struggles especially that the world is now facing a health crisis. Further, he asked for apology to the government for the offenses and unlawful activities they made in the past and is willing to start a brand new and peaceful life.
It can be recalled that twenty-one (21) CTG members of Guerilla Front 72 and 73 voluntarily surrendered at Tupi and Banga, South Cotabato on May 15, 2020. This was followed by the surrender of thirty-six (36) CTG members at Lake Sebu, South Cotabato on May 22, 2020 and another seven (7) at Tantangan, South Cotabato on May 26, 2020. A total of sixty-four (64) CNTs (Communist NPA Terrorists) from the province of South Cotabato reunited in the arms of the government.
“The series of surrenders of CTG members for the last two weeks in Region 12 which total to 108 shows that we have restored the trust and dignity of the people who lost their confidence in the government and gain them back in the most effective and efficient possible way. It also manifests that more and more CTG members now gradually realize the bitter reality of being captives of the wrong cause. The group is continuously weakening as some of the leaders are returning to the folds of the law.” PBGEN MICHAEL JOHN F DUBRIA said.
“Rest assured that you will be given the opportunity to avail the program of the government where you can start a new life for a better future with your respective families. As to those who have a standing warrant, they will be turned over to the court who has jurisdiction over their case.” he added.
Before the conference ended, the DILG Provincial Director, ENGR. SAMUEL A CAMAGANACAN and Hon. Mayor DANNY MARTINEZ confirmed that the former rebels from the Municipality of Kiamba will receive housing units as aid from the municipal government.
