Brig. Gen. Michael John Dubria, the PRO-12 director, said Wednesday they commissioned at least four trucks to deliver the relief goods to the affected residents in coordination with the local government units.
The Police Regional Office-12 (Soccsksargen) has sent over PHP1 million worth of essential supplies and construction materials to the Bicol region as an aid for victims of Typhoons Rolly and Ulysses.
Dubria said the police-escorted trucks left the regional headquarters in Barangay Tambler here on Tuesday for the two-day travel to the Bicol region.
He said the relief supplies consisted of rice, noodles, and canned goods, face masks, face shields, used clothing, medicines, bottled water, powdered milk, and repacked food items.
Around PHP1 million worth of assorted construction materials would also be given to families who lost their homes, Dubria said.
The police team that escorted the essential supplies will remain in the Bicol region for at least a month to assist in the relief operations, he added.
“We saw the devastation caused by the two typhoons there, and we thought of sending anything that we have to help the victims,” Dubria said. (PNA)
