Police Regional Office (PRO) – A former AFP member was arrested at Brgy. Presbitero, Pigcawayan, North Cotabato for illegal possession of High Powered Firearm.The former AFP on board his KIA Avila vehicle with the plate number “MEA 369” heading towards to Cotabato City, upon passing the routinary checkpoint, was questioned by the troops when an M-16 rifle was seen at the back of vehicle wherein the said person failed to present the pertinent documents needed. Joint elements of 1203rd Maneuver Company, Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) 12, Pigcayawan MPS and 34th Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army under the supervision of PBGEN ALEXANDER C TAGUM, Regional Director, identified the driver as Akmad Nando Datumanguda a.k.a “NANDO”, 38 years old, married, a resident of Cotabato city. This person will be charged under the Republic Act No. 10591 for unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.“Mere possession of unlicensed firearm is a valid reason for his arrest. We must intensify our police visibility and law enforcement operations in our checkpoints to prevent illegal activities, especially those which involves the transportation of illegal items.” PBGEN TAGUM said.
